The pianist Margarita Oganesjan, born in Yerevan (Armenia), started learning to play piano early on from great masters of her native country. To this day, her playing radiates the atmosphere and spirit of this wonderful country, which has produced so many magnificent artists. After moving to Germany, she consolidated this training in virtuosity and musicality at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater München (University of Music and Performing Arts Munich) and the Salzburg Mozarteum under Vadim Suchanov and Aleksei Lubimov.
Even while she was still a student, chamber music was already the much-loved focus of her musical development. Awards such as the first prize at the International Wolfgang Jacobi Competition for Modern Chamber Music and the chamber music prize of the Kulturkreis Gasteig have marked the path of this "sensitive and highly expressive chamber musician" (expert jury).
2013 saw the release of her first CD, "Die Winterreise" by Franz Schubert with the renowned baritone Michael Kupfer-Radecky. In 2015, another CD followed with the violinist and ECHO prize-winner Rebekka Hartmann: "Views from Ararat" (FARAO classics). The two musicians enjoy a deep private and musical friendship and give concerts worldwide as a duo. In addition to chamber music concerts, Margarita Oganesjan regularly gives piano recitals and performs as soloist in piano concertos.
In 2020, the pianist founded the Henschel Piano Trio together with the first violinist of the Henschel Quartett, Christoph Henschel, and the cellist Hendrik Blumenroth. In addition to a broad range of standard piano trio repertoire, the three artists focus intensively on works by contemporary composers. More musical partnerships arose at various festivals with the Henschel Quartett, the singers Lioba Braun, Hermine May, Lydia Teuscher and the baritone Ludwig Mittelhammer and with the clarinettists Martin Spangenberg and Pablo Barragán.
Margarita Oganesjan's collaboration with the cellist Hendrik Blumenroth has led to a long-cherished project: the recording of all the sonatas for violoncello and piano by Ludwig van Beethoven.
