  • Lika Bibileishvili (piano)
  • Lika Bibileishvili was born in Batumi, Georgia, in 1988. She already fell in love with the piano as a small child. Lika Bibileishvili’s parents encouraged this passion and enabled her to take her first piano lessons at the age of four. By the time she was a teenager, her dream profession was cast in stone: she wanted to be a concert and solo pianist, and nothing else.

While studying in Georgia, Lika Bibileishvili already gave numerous concerts with the Ajara Symphony Orchestra. At the age of 12, she was playing works such as Rachmaninov’s First Piano Concerto, and at 14, she performed the Second Piano Concerto by Camille Saint-Saëns.

In 2008, she moved to Munich, Germany, and continued her studies at the University of Music and Performing Arts under the professors Franz Massinger, Volker Banfield and Antti Siirala. In 2015, she received her master’s degree with distinction.
Lika Bibileishvili has attended courses and masterclasses with Eliseo Virsuladze, Ruvim Ostrovsky, Naum Sharkman and Dimitri Bashkirov.

“What fascinates me about the piano is its unlimited possibilities of sound and harmony. It is one of the most perfect and important instruments that exists in the world of music. I would like to inspire my listeners with my deeply-felt music. My aim is to make every note reach people’s hearts.”
    Lika Bibileishvili

On her début CD, Lika Bibileishvili presents some of her favourite pieces with grace, emotion and stylistic aplomb.

    The WholeNote

... a powerful and versatile pianist who takes her vocation very seriously. Now 30, she is a fireball of energy that approaches Prokofiev and Bartók piano sonatas fearlessly. Now 30, she is a fireball of energy that approaches Prokofiev and Bartók piano sonatas fearlessly. … The Sibelius 13 Pieces for Piano Op.76 (of which Bibileishvili selected ten) adds another dimension to her debut recording. Sounding deceptively simple, some very challenging keyboard work combines with Sibelius’ gift for melody to give this extraordinary pianist a chance to prove that she’s as adept with beauty and frivolity as she is with fire and brimstone.

... this remains an impressive calling card and one that should gain her many well-wishers.

… This high quality playing from Bibileishvili feels fresh and vital and is especially responsive to temperament and attention to dynamic nuance. Recorded at Kupferhaus Planegg, Munich the engineering team provide clarity and apt balance. Bibileishvili’s Steinway model D concert grand has an attractive sound. Written by Yvonne Petitpierre, the booklet essay is first class, both informative and readable.
A name that we are certainly going to hear a lot more about in the future, Lika Bibileishvili is in irresistible form.
