Franz-Josef Selig has established an international reputation as one of the most reputable interpreters of the more demanding bass roles in the repertoire; especially roles such as "Gurnemanz", "King Marke", "Sarastro", "Osmin" and "Fasolt". His guest appearances have taken him, among other places to the opera houses of The Royal Opera at Covent Garden, The Metropolitan Opera in New York, La Scala in Milan and the Salzburg Festival. On the concert platform, this artist has worked together with renowned conductors such as Christian Thielemann, Ricardo Muti, Mariss Jansons, Herbert Blomstedt, Franz Welser-Möst, Daniel Harding and Sir Simon Rattle. His enthusiasm for "ancient music" has lead him to cooperate with Nikolaus Harnoncourt, Philippe Herreweghe, René Jacobs, as well as the Akademie für Alte Musik (Academy of Ancient Music) in Berlin. In addition to his numerous concert and opera appearances, Franz-Josef Selig also finds time to perform Lieder recitals.
