BIOGRAPHY

The Audi Young Persons’ Choral Academy forms part of Audi support for the arts and is organized and financed by the Ingolstadt based company. It was started by Sebastian Wieser from AUDI AG and Professor Martin Steidler and has developed into a showcase project in the encouraging of young talent in the arts. The Young Persons’ Choral Academy offers young singers of both sexes high quality musical work in the chorus, professional individual singing lessons, and the possibility of garnering on-stage experience before large audiences alongside renowned artists. Participants must be between 16 and 27 years of age and must audition in front of a jury. In workshops over a period of several days the young singers are coached and rehearse the concert program. Additionally, they may work at their favourite pieces in small ensembles or as soloists and present them at an evening get-together. The highlight comes at the end of the course when the rehearsed program is performed. The chorus has been a fixed item on the program of summer concerts given by Audi since 2008, and what’s more, has performed on stage at the firm’s 2008 and 2009 Christmas concerts. For some while now, the chorus has been arousing interest far and wide, including appearances in Berlin cathedral, in Passau and in Prague. With their concert in St Michaels Church they made their debut in the music capital of Munich.

Music director of the Audi Young Persons’ Choral Academy is Martin Steidler who is Professor of choral conducting at the "Hochschule für Musik und Theater München". Besides the "Madrigalchor" he is conductor of the prize-awarded "Heinrich-Schütz-Ensemble Vornbach" and was chorus director of the Tyrol Festival Erl. He has assembled an experienced team of music and voice teachers to work on the project: Nataliya Lukina (voice training and assistance), Barbara Bübl, Sibrand Basa, Christian Schmidt (voice training) and Jeanpierre Faber (Repetiteur).
